Developing Individual Capacity
Individuals who achieve and sustain significant performance improvement have four things in common:
- They understand the need to change at a personal level;
- They have a clear vision of what their target behavior will look and feel like;
- They have access to new concepts and techniques to help achieve their goal; and
- They receive feedback and support while practicing new behavior in their operating environment.
This powerful learning atmosphere is best created through a coaching framework. Within this framework, the performer takes personal accountability for their learning, sets attainable development goals, and takes advantage of outside resources to supply new information and help them view the effect of their new behaviors.
